VIIIth International Exhibition “In My Homeland” opened on April 18 in Minsk

This year 308 works from 18 countries - Belarus, Bulgaria, China, Georgia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Thailand, Turkey and the Ukraine - entered the exposition. Traditionally the works are displayed in the exhibition halls of the art gallery “University of Culture” and the Republican Ecology and Biology Center.

In the morning the award ceremony of the Contest took part. Young artists of numerous schools and studios of Belarus, their teachers and parents came to the ceremony. Some teachers told us that they were bringing also those pupils who had not participated in the Contest for them to see the exhibition.  For them it brings valuable artistic experience and makes bright impression.

Medals and Diplomas were awarded to young artists by the head of the jury board Leonid GOMONOV. Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus prepared ten special diplomas “for artistic reflection of the beauty of the native land”. Children received as well presents from the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Minsk, Cultural Mission of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Belarus and Ltd. “Palitra”. A surprise for the participants of the ceremony were presents from the publishing house of Marina Volkova (Chelyabinsk), who prepared for the kids pop-up-books “In Colour about Cats” with the illustrations of winners’ works of the International Art and Graphics Contest “In My Homeland”.

Also to congratulate the young artists on this festive occasion arrived the wandering band Vuraj and the experimental theatre «Eye».

The opening of the second part of the exhibition in the gallery “University of Culture” was also crowded. Children and grown-ups came to marvel at the sincere children’s thoughts and fantasies reflected in colour. Guests of the exhibition were greeted by the Head of the Organisation committee of the Contest and Director of “Green Cross Belarus” Vladimir SHEVTSOV and the Director of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Minsk Viktor MALASHENKO. Representatives of the Embassies of Georgia, India, Iran, Russia and Serbia as well visited the exhibition opening.

The exhibition will be open until May 4 in the gallery “University of Culture” and until May 19 in the Republican Ecology and Biology Center.
