Working Meeting of the “In My Homeland” Contest Organization Board Took Place

Representatives of the International Contest of Art and Graphics “In My Homeland” organization board and members of the jury board had a meeting on November 16 in the Educational Centre of Green Cross Belarus to discuss issues concerning the jury work.

During the meeting were approved the regulations on jury work, in which are outlined the provisions on the procedure of the jury board formation and its composition, its aims, voting procedure. Were formulated the main criteria of the Contest entries assessment:

• Completeness of the author’s idea realization.
• Originality of the composition.
• Coloristic decision.
• The level of drawing technique, sense of perspective, ornamentality of the work (for older age groups).
• Distinctly expressed individuality.
• Independence in the execution of the work.

The question of plagiarism was also raised as there were several such cases in the Contest.

– When assessing the Contest works we pay special attention to this problem as one of the conditions for the Contest entries is that the work should be artistic and independent, - comments on the problem the head of the jury board Leonid GOMONOV. – But unfortunately it is not always possible to detect plagiarism on the stage of the jury board work, as sometimes are copied the works of not well-known artists or other children’s works, which won at other international contests. Therefore we decided to discuss the problem of plagiarism at the International Conference for Artists-Teachers that will take place in February 2012. An unoriginal work that is among the winners compromises greatly the Contest, its organizers and jury board members. But mostly such cases influence the reputation of the school and teacher who lead the execution of such works.

The jury board of the VII^th International Art and Graphics Contest “In My Homeland” will work on 3-7 February 2012 in the Educational Centre of Green Cross Belarus. The preliminary list of jury board members is presented here.
